Statement of Work

Brief overview of the project

Group name:

The Curation of Legislative Data on Libraries Across States

Group members:

August W. Guszkowski, Sophie McIntyre

The topic of your curation protocol:

Legislative data

The target audience for your protocol :

Library advocacy groups (ex: ALA, Freedom to Read Foundation), state representatives, individual public librarians who want to understand or track the policies are affecting their work. We want the results from this protocol to be usable on both an individual and collective scale.

Collective goals for the protocol:

Our goal is to create a protocol where users can curate open legislative data regarding libraries on a state-by-state basis. Some of the data that will be collected are bill summaries, sponsors, supplemental materials, and drafts. One part of the curation process we would like to learn more about is how to best track the status of a bill and how to map the relationships between bills.
