Introduction
An introduction to the library bill tracking repository.
The American Library Association has identified several concerning trends in recent state-level legislation that aims to restrict the freedom of information in public and school libraries. The Library Bill Tracking repository aims to curate data about state-level legislation that concerns libraries and the freedom of information in order to facilitate comparisons and allow library advocates to keep track of what types of legislation are passing or failing in their states. Much of this data is collected, but not necessarily curated, on sites like LegiScan, and this repository is designed to collect the text of individual bills as well as bill sponsors and comprehensive timelines of the actions taken on each bill all in one place.
